Max Pike
Vice President for Societies
He/Him
Hey! I’m Max and I’m going to be your Vice President for Societies for 2023/24. Societies have been a huge part of my student experience as an undergrad and will continue to be when I finish in this role. They develop useful skills, put on amazing events and are a fantastic way to make friends. I want to make sure there is something for everyone and support execs in making societies run as smoothly as possible.
Course:
Politics and International Studies
Hometown:
Swanage, Dorset
Fun fact about me:
I have a grade 2 in ballet (although you wouldn’t be able to tell eek)
My role and what I hope to achieve this year:
As Vice President for Societies, I will be the first point of contact for societies at Warwick. My main job is to represent lots of different kinds of societies and to make sure they are equipped and able to function as effectively as possible. There are lots of ways to engage with societies from attending their events and being a casual member to even holding an exec position and helping run them yourselves.
My role involves dealing with internal issues and supporting the organisational running of societies as well as developing processes and policies that better benefit societies. I will be representing societies’ interests in university committees and with external stakeholders to provide the best possible student experience. I will also be responsible for helping organise large-scale events such as Societies Fair and helping co-ordinate training for executive committee members.
In addition to this, I aim to:
- Explore ways to promote and raise awareness of what’s happening with socs, so you don’t miss out.
- Improve exec resources and training to make the jobs of execs easier.
- Make societies as accessible as possible so everyone can get involved.
- Scale-up society showcases such as Socs Fest and dedicated weeks to sustain enthusiasm for societies year-round.
No question is too small so if you have anything on your mind, please reach out with any questions or concerns in regard to societies or the student experience.
