Some of the things you can look forward too this year!
ACADEMIC TALKS BOWLING CHARITY EVENTS CHRISTMAS MEAL MENTORING
CAREERS EVENTS CIRCLING + POP! REVISION SESSIONS SPRING BALL
Freshers Reps: At the beginning of the year we look for a handful of Freshers who are willing to represent 1st Years in SocSoc. You'll get your very own hoodie, as well as be involved in helping the Exec plan and execute events, be instrumental in publicising events to your fellow Freshers, and get an inside look into how SocSoc operates. When February comes around you'll have the chance to run for one of our positions and keep the SocSoc flame alive!
Christmas Meal: This is an annual tradition that takes place at the end of Term 1. Whip out those Xmas jumpers, wrap yourself in tinsel and join us in Leamington for a delicious meal! For those who don't celebrate Christmas: that's cool! Come join us anyway for an end of term celebration involving eating, drinking, and spending time with your SocSoc pals. Keep an eye out on our social media for further details nearer the time!
Spring Ball: For the past two years we have partnered with Linguistics (2019) and Pride & WASS (2020) to bring you our Spring Ball. This is sure to be the highlight of your academic year; it's a chance to dress in your finest apparel and celebrate in style with the rest of SocSoc. This is one event you do not want to miss! Details regarding the event usually come at the end of Term 1/beginning of Term 2, so keep your eyes peeled!

Introduction
Adam Allen
(He/Him)
With extensive experience in leadership and academic duties I found it a no brainer to apply and serve as a co-president for a society that not only encapsulates the subject I'm most passionate about but also a society whose activism, community and philosophy advocates for change and fundamentally makes a difference. I intend to do just that through supporting the student body in any way possible and making university a priceless experience through effective liaison with staff and the wider society committee.
Jasmine Deen
(She/Her)
I’m excited to host loads of events and, get to know everyone and watch the society grow!
Social Secretaries:
Jade Francis
I wanted to get involved to create a sense of community across the sociology department in Warwick. By aiming to host inclusive , exciting social events I’d like to bring people together through my role. I’m looking forward to doing that through hosting study sessions , discussion sessions and a variety of sober and non-sober events. I hope we can grow the sense of community among all sociology students , and to have a good time along the way!
Talia Marie
I wanted to join the sociology exec because I’ve really enjoyed the subject all year and think the society has lots of potential to grow big. Having been inspired by being part of many societies this year, including mixed netball and ballroom and latin, I’d love to contribute to sociology by putting on fun and memorable social events as social sec. I can’t wait to officially get started and put our ideas to practice!
Academic and Welfare Officer:
Kiana Thakrar
I’m passionate about fostering a supportive network and environment to ensure everyone can flourish. I’m excited about hosting academic workshops in the future for essay writing support and launching a collaborative essay bank to provide examples of first class work, ensuring first years, in particular, have a support tool for academic skills.
Treasurer:
Holly Dhillon
I wanted to join the exec to be able to contribute to making SocSoc have more of a community feel and to have a say in the events that are put on. I also like doing admin so treasurer was the perfect way to fulfill this.
Secretary:
Sophia Arbury
(She/They)
I have joined sociology society because I love being involved and making a change to a community and as secretary I will be able to make sure that the society is organised and runs smoothly which is very important to me. I am also looking forward to writing the sociology newsletter and informing new first years of what we do. I’m going to make sure as secretary that I am highly involved (not just a background character) so that students can reach out to me or any of the exec with questions.
Publicity Officer:
Rhea Badesha
Not only have I loved attending Socsoc events, particularly pizza nights, I have created close friendships through this society. Throughout first year, especially first term, the Socsoc team always made it their conscious effort to go above and beyond to make me feel both welcome and comfortable in regards to work, utilising Moodle and Tabula as well as giving advice for University in general, which is something that I realised I want to be able to provide for next years freshers; making sure they too feel happy, comfortable and ready for what’s to come as the Socsoc execs did for me! I aim to make my year more excited for Socsoc events, through social media, and create a higher turnout for events, which I think we are going to be able to successfully achieve!!
Current students should purchase the Sociology Society Standard Membership below.
